Top ten attrctions 2014

Hello everyone,


Due to popular demand I had to take  look at Top ten attractions in Nigeria for the yer 2014.

A lot of factors are used to determine the top attractions. Looking at the previous top ten,some attractions moved up, some moved down while some especially those in the North Eastern region did not make the top ten this time.

1. Obudu Mountain Resort. 

The tranquil wonder in Obudu, Cross River state remains number one. The resort, 1567m above sea level still boasts of Africa’s longest cable car system.

2. Cross River National Park.

  One of West Africa’s richest areas of tropical rainforest with rugged mountain scenery, rolling hills and amazing sight-seeing of animals, situated in Boki Cross-River state remains at number two.









3. Afi Mountain Sanctuary.

      Home to some rare endangered primate, known for the canopy walkway through a series of suspension bridges linked to platforms on trees for a breathtaking view of Afi’s reserved forest. Also in Cross River state.

4.Idanre Hills.

A cluster of hills that surrounds and sort of envelops Idanre town, Ondo State. It moves four spots up from last year’s Top 10.

5. Osun Oshogbo Grove.

 A  UNESCO World Heritage site in Oshogbo, Osun State.  The dense forest of the Osun sacred grove is one of the remnants of primary high forest in Southern Nigerian. The landscape of the grove and its meandering river is dotted with sanctuaries, shrines, sculptures and art works.
In addition annual osun Oshogbo festival helps sustain the tradition of the people.

6. La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort .

 A tranquil paradise at the outskirts of ibeju-lekki, Lagos. Its unique blend of natural environments; fresh water lake, accessible mangrove forest, a savannah, extensive sandy beach and the warm Atlantic sea. Moves a spot down from last top ten..

7. Agbokim Waterfalls 

 On the part of Cross River close to the Nigeria-Cameron Border, this nature’s wonder descends in a seven face terrace through the tropical rainforest.

8. Calabar Carnival.

    Africa’s largest party makes its debut into the top ten. The carnival, held annually in December  Includes music performance, Boat regatta, Fashion shows, Christmas Village, traditional dances, the annual Ekpe Festival and so on.

9. City of Jos.

 The city of Jos is back to normal after some crisis. The local culture, weather, scenic beauty, chains of hills, many rocks, waterfalls, wildlife Safari park and other attractions brings the good old tourism haven of Nigeria in the top ten.

10. Olumirin Waterfalls.

 The cascading waterfall amidst the soaring mountains at Erin Ijesha, Osun State. Its blend of wildlife with tranquility keeps it at the top ten.
























All breathtaking, not easy coming up with a top ten because of the numerous attractions in Nigeria. Hope you learned a thing or two.
