Mention tourism and people think of attractions and places but these are just a fraction of the industry. Sure will be writing about attractions but let me just breakdown the sectors that make up the tourism industry.
- ACCOMMODATION: Not just hotels and motels but there is a long list which includes: Resorts ,camping grounds, guest houses ,bed & breakfast ,and yes service apartment. These are common in Nigeria.
However the list continues as obtainable in loads of countries: backpackers, caravan, cabin, houseboats and farm stays. - ATTRACTIONS :Natural, artificial, these days some attractions are both natural and artificial.other attractions are: Cultural, Educational, Theme parks, and Events of all types.
- TOURS.Can be arranged individually but better to use service of tour operator. Tour operators different types of tours.Day & night tours, Adventure tours, cultural and recently special interest tours. Also included are cruises and sightseeing.
- CARRIERS: Airlines, Coaches, Car-hire and Trains.
- PROMOTIONALS AND DISTRIBUTION: Travel agents, Tour operators, Tour wholesalers and inbound agents.
- SUPPORT SERVICES: here we have the massive Food and beverage sector (restaurants, bar, cafes, eateries etc). Also visitor services, producer and seller of art, craft and souvenir
- CO-ORDINATION SERVICES:Local tourist association, state and federal tourism agencies, industrial associations , NGO's.
Regards.
Awesome stuff . . . Totally looking forward to the next post
ReplyDeleteThere is just so much to the idea/topic of Tourism and reading this post has just got me all excited about the future career I will be heading into. Partly feel my mouth watering at the thought of all that there is out there in terms of tourism.
As a South African the tourism industry offers such a great wealth of travel options and yet many of us have not even left our very own city. Travel for the the most part in-tails a great deal of rick and partly passion as well. Risk in getting out of your comfort-zone and a passion to learn and want more out of life.
As we journey along, I to will add some of travels and some pics of our beautiful country. In the hope that my efforts and add-on's will bring many more to our warm shores . . .
Take care
Tazy
Well said Tazy. Yes travel entails wanting to take risk and passion, more-so, travel is gradually becoming a necessity especially for busy people but they need understand they can vacate within their country, as domestic tourists, if they can not afford international trips.
ReplyDeleteAs you read about Nigeria, will be nice if you share pics and travel information of your South Africa as well.
